After a packed event schedule over the summer the Plymouth Barbican takes a breath during October before unleashing a 3 day Thanksgiving event in November. More on this next month ;).
Firstly congratulations of the guys at Parade Antiques who won the ABB Barbican Raft Race last month!
Autumn on the Barbican
There is still plenty to see, do, buy, eat and drink here on the Plymouth Barbican during the Autumn period.
One of the strong characteristics of the Barbican is the friendly traders and business owners all happy to help. If you are looking for the perfect unique gift for someone take a stroll around the shops you won’t be disappointed.
Although there are no large events this month, there are a number of smaller events within numerous venues across the Barbican from live music from top local bands to theatre shows. It’s impossible to list them all. Be sure to check out the listings on www.barbicanwaterfront.com for details about each venue.
Theatre Royal Plymouth
Recently reopened and revamped the popular Theatre Royal is back in business and currently showing the National Theatre production of “War Horse”.
Linked in with this, here at Parade Antiques we have a Michael Morpurgo Framed Autograph and Print. The signature of acclaimed author Micheal Morpurgo, creator of War Horse, the recent Hollywood film directed by Stephen Spielberg. The signature is framed alongside a picture of the author, the flyer for the film and an outstanding antique print entitled ‘Goodbye Old Man’, signed by the artist F. Matonia 1915, portraying a soldier and his horse during the Great War.
A unique item with a certificate of authenticity from an AFTAL (Autograph Fair Trade Association Ltd) dealer.
Coming up next month – November…
Barbican Thanksgiving and the start of the Christmas Weekend. We will see a marquee setup on the Mayflower Steps housing a number of stalls related to the arts and crafts offering more unique gift idea opportunities perfect for the run up to Christmas.
We’ll look more into what the plans are for thanksgiving which marks the start of a regular event on the run up to the Mayflower 2020 celebrations.
